The Senate is preparing for the blood drive on Sept. 7.
“We’ve still got some openings that we’re trying to fill this week, so we’re getting close to ready for that,” Senate sponsor Michelle Foutz said.

Senators encouraged students to sign up during lunch and prepared letters to send to the parents of those who chose to participate.
Although it is too late to sign up now, student body president Chris Johnson said there will be future opportunities.
“We’ll have another blood drive in the spring,” Johnson said. “We’ll be more than happy to sign people up for that one.”
In addition to planning for the blood drive, senators are also preparing for Homecoming festivities, including spirit days, trike races and playhouse building.
According to Jessica Chiang, junior senator and co-chair of the Spirit Committee, students can suggest ideas for spirit days until Sept. 5.
“We base it on the student body’s suggestions,” Chiang said. “(Spirit days) get the whole school involved. It’s not just for one group of kids.”
