According to CHTV supervisor Erin Thorpe, the advanced telecommunications class will produce a video this semester for a nonprofit organization.
Thorpe said, “This is a brand new project this year, and students get to work with an actual client and have to make a project proposal. It’s a good way for CHTV to get involved in the community and to provide a service for the community while at the same time, students get to use their production skills.”
Jimmy Kennedy, advanced telecommunications student and senior, said that he hopes the video project for the nonprofit organization will draw more volunteers and donators to the organization.
“The video could be a variety of things: a public service announcement, a certain campaign and a lot of other different things,” Kennedy said. “This is a unique opportunity to learn the skills of TV industry. To get an opportunity to work for CHTV and represent them with a non-for-profit organization is a unique opportunity, and just representing CHTV in a positive light is something that I look forward to.”
