Victoria “Tori” Doss, Greyhound Connections co-president and senior, checks in with junior Kenta Lanham, who is new to CHS this year. According to Doss, members of the club are assigned to select new students, with whom they check in throughout the year.
At some point in October, Greyhound Connections will be having a new student breakfast to mingle with new students. According to Victoria “Tori” Doss, Greyhound Connections co-president and senior, the breakfast is an annual event.
“We haven’t set an exact date yet, but it’s just a chance for new students to enjoy food and not feel pressure when talking to Greyhound Connections members,” Doss said.
In terms of the club’s progress, Doss said she has noticed it in the little things.
“I’m proud that I’ve seen members sitting with new students at lunch,” Doss said. “It’s a little factor, but it really makes a difference.”
Eric Wiegand, Greyhound Connections member and junior, said he finds the club important.
“I think the club is very effective,” Wiegand said. “Mr. Stuelpe has a terrific empathy for these students who are thrown into this enormous school, and everyone in the club quickly develops the same level of passion.”
