AVID will not be having its monthly meeting in October, according to AVID senior leader Meredith Missler.
“We were going to do… a big bonfire … but the problem is, we cannot promote it through school, so we don’t have an official AVID event for this month.” Meredith said. “The school said that we could do it, but not as an AVID event.”
Despite this setback, Meredith said that she and the rest of the senior leaders intend to continue to make arrangements for the next event.
“We want this club to be bigger and better, and especially for me as a senior and other senior leaders; we would love to make this a legacy for next year, and for (AVID) to be a strong program that continues on after we leave.”
AVID site coordinator Shannon Woodson said that this year’s AVID members have been great in establishing a community spirit.
“There was a good mix of upper-classmen and freshmen (during the last meeting),” Woodson said. “It’s expected that there will be a similar level of interaction (for future meetings).”
