According to secretary Julie Van Buren, upcoming SAT tests will be conducted on Nov. 2 and Dec. 7. Additionally, many college applications are due Nov. 1. Counselor Stephanie Payne said that juniors who are taking the test in either November or December do not have to prepare much.
“I wouldn’t say you really need to do a lot of work,” Payne said. “For that first time you just need to take it and get your feet wet.”
However, for seniors, Payne said it is important to prepare for the test for one last chance to increase their scores.
Additionally for seniors, many college applications are due on Nov. 1.
“That’s a big, important date for seniors,” Van Buren said.
Applications for early decisions, early action and scholarships for certain colleges, including Purdue, are due Nov. 1. According to Payne, this is a busy time of year for counselors in getting students’ applications together and writing recommendation letters.
“You want to give each student the dedication and the time that you need to write a good, strong letter for them for college, so trying to balance that with all of our other tasks makes it just kind of a hectic time of year,” she said.
The next PTO letter is scheduled to come out Oct. 23. It will cover events happening in October and November.
Van Buren said, “Hopefully things are going to slow down a little at the end of this semester.”
