According to club president and senior Linsu Han, Hip Hop Club will have an exhibition battle on Nov. 5. Hip Hop Club meets every Tuesday after school until 4:30 p.m. in the main lobby near the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.
Sponsor Lacey Grabek said an exhibition battle is a dance competition within the hip hop world where dancers can show off their skills as they try to dance better than their partner.
“The purpose of battles is to challenge each other and force one another to dance to their full potential,” Grabek said. “It will be the first time to demonstrate what members have learned up until this point.”
According to Han, all club members are already signed up and will be paired according to skill levels. In addition, all performances will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube.
Han said he plans to have more such battles in the future.
“We’re thinking of having around one per semester,” he said.
Grabek said battles are one way to motivate and invigorate the club.
“It gets the members excited and really does help motivate them to try their hardest as they are on display in front of everyone,” Grabek said.
