Astronomy Club will meet on Nov. 11 at the planetarium after school, according to sponsor Keith Turner. At the meeting, students will be assigned to either handling tickets or operating the star machine for the upcoming planetarium’s brand new comet show.
Turner said in the past, students have helped at some of the planetarium shows, and typically two or three members handled ticket sales while one or two members operated the star machine.
President and senior Yanying Chen said most of the senior members have had experience with training with star machines for the show.
“I think it’s a wonderful experience, but it takes hard work,” Chen said. “I need to refresh star positions and how to point the arrow for the show. In the past, I’ve stayed after school usually three to four times for training.”
Turner said that handling ticket sales can also be a great experience.
“This is a cool experience for students,” Turner said. “People working with tickets will be given the opportunity to greet people, polishing their people skills.”
