On Jan. 11, CHS’s DECA team placed first place in the DECA district competition. Out of the 188 students who attended the competition, 108 of them qualified for the state competition in Indianapolis from
March 9 to 11.
“We were truly, truly happy with how the kids worked,” DECA sponsor Laura Cardamon said.
According to Cardamon, students will prepare for the state competition by taking practice tests and working on their business plans for their events.
Alec Imaizumi, DECA member and senior, qualified for the state and international DECA competitions last year. Imaizumi said he prepared for his event by practicing his presentation in front of people who could give him constructive criticism.
Imaizumi said he had a very positive experience at the state and international competitions.
“It was really cool to see everyone from the entire state coming and being a part of DECA. We got to meet different people from all over the state,” Imaizumi said. “Internationals was exactly that but on a bigger scale. It was pretty cool.”
