The Carmel softball team will compete in the Super Prep Round Robin Series May 9 and 10. The tournament will be held in Louisville, Kentucky and the team will compete against many schools outside of the MIC conference. The team won the Carmel Invitational on April 25 and 26 defeating Brownsburg, Munster and Huntington North.
The team competes in many games during its short season to prepare the girls for the sectional tournament. According to Head Coach Emily Good the girls need to look at the end product and not the journey to get there. “The girls need to take one game at a time. We need to focus less on the outcome and trust the process. If we do this, I believe the outcomes will be in our favor,” Good said.
The team is halfway through its season and every practice and game is time for the team to prepare for the sectional tournament and state. Lauren Godden, captain and senior, said that in preparation for state it is vital the seniors keep the team focused on the season. “As there are eight seniors, we are really making sure we are on the same page and working together as a unit. The seniors have done a really good job at making sure the team is as close as we can be,” Godden said.
