On Oct. 27 and Oct. 31, the Freshman Class will go on freshman tours. During these tours, GKOMs will lead their SRTs through all of the elective areas in the school to showcase the different types of electives offered at CHS. The separate department chairs will be running the tours.
“The elective departments are doing tours for the freshman Monday first session and Friday first session (of SRT),” Kim TenBrink, chairperson of the physical education department, said. “It’s going to be a walking tour so they can kind of walk through an area and we’ll walk and talk about what we have to offer.”
The tours are one way that the school exposes the Freshman Class to different classes each year. It allows them to get a glimpse of what they might want to do next for their sophomore year.
“We just want to expose the freshman to some of the offerings, because in their freshman year they have classes that they have to take, and as they go through the high school they have more options, and we just want to let them know what those options are,” TenBrink said.
The Freshman Class will be separated during these tours. Half will be going on Monday, and the other half will be going on the tours on Friday.
According to TenBrink, “It’s just a good way to visually see what’s available rather than reading about (a course) on a piece of paper or hearing about it.”
