Nicole Stein-Bills, Carmel Aquatics Center Director, has been working as the director for two months. Stein-Bills said, “I’m enjoying it. It’s a lot of work but it’s fun work. It keeps me busy throughout the day. It’s fun to be teaching lessons, helping the instructors and helping the lifeguards.”
She recently decided to change the curriculum for group and private lessons. The lesson plans are more consolidated than the previous lesson plans. “Now there are only 3 levels. Each level goes more in-depth into each stroke.”
Furthermore, the Carmel Aquatic Center is continuing its plans to move to a different, warmer pool. The current pool is 80 degrees and the new pool will be 87 degrees. “We are currently on the works on a contract with Prime Life Enrichment Center.”
Lifeguard and senior Emily Fletcher recently started working as a lifeguard for the aquatic center. “It’s pretty easy here and I enjoy it,” she said.
