From popsicles to acai bowls, you can bet that you will find it in Broad Ripple. Broad Ripple is Indy’s eclectic neighborhood on the Northside that historically has had a hippie-vibe, but recently has grown to become more of a foodie haven. Don’t know where to eat? I got you covered! Below is the list for my top 4 Broad Ripple establishments.
Public Greens-900 E. 64th Street
This restaurant by Martha Hoover, of Patachou and Napolese fame, was opened last year. The menu changes daily and has a variety of healthy, satisfying and most of all fresh food. The food here is of utmost quality and always leaves me longing for more. Of note are specifically the Vegan Chili and the crispy Buttermilk Chicken Tenders, as well as the variety of exclusive coffees. The interior is very simplistic and modern, and the restaurant also features a vast outdoor area with fireplaces facing the monon and their own herb gardens. Not to forget to mention that all profit goes to feed inner-city kids, what’s not to love?
Garden Table-908 E. Westfield Blvd
This restaurant screams healthy. From quinoa bowls, acai bowls and its local avocado toasts, to its cleanses and endless juices that are some of the best in the region, this restaurant undoubtedly adds to the Broad Ripple food scene. Personal favorites are the Garden Toast, described as “mashed avocado, tomato, on toast with a dash of chili powder and a squeeze of lemon,” and the Lush Love juice, which is based on watermelon, grapefruit and coconut water. The inside is for sure instagram-worthy and the outside offers some of Indy’s best people watching.
Nicey Treat-916 E. Westfield Blvd
This awesome local mainstay truly delivers everything that you’ve ever wanted in a popsicle. Arnold Palmer, Strawberry Mint, Avocado, Mango Ginger, Hot Chocolate, Pineapple Basil and so many more are available at the shop’s locations in Broad Ripple and Fletcher Place. After getting it dipped in some dark chocolate, feel free to roam around the neighborhood in a better mood than you ever have been in before. Beware-hot days and Nicey Treat don’t mix well without napkins!
La Chinita Poblana-927 E. Westfield Blvd
The best taco in Indy they say, and oh is that an understatement. The asian-fusion tacos form creations like my favorite, Tilapia with yellow curry. Check out the awesome agua frescas, bobas, and mole fries. This colorful little hole-in-the-wall is one of my favorite Indy dives and so great for a cheap and reasonably light meal.
