On Dec. 9, the CHS Academic Competition Team defeated Cardinal Ritter High School in the Brain Game competition at WTHR. The CHS team consisted of seniors Sameer Leley, Vikas Maturi, Matthew Zheng and junior Jake Greene. Zheng served as captain while juniors Darren Chang and Nathan Fei served as alternates. After four rounds and fifteen minutes of competition, CHS defeated Cardinal Ritter by a score of 21-13.
The match is currently scheduled to be telecast on Jan. 17, at noon on WTHR, channel 13. The next Brain Game match for Carmel will be on Feb. 17, to face the team from Westfield High School. As Brain Game is structured as a single-elimination tournament, Carmel must win a total of five matches to win the tournament.
