According to club sponsor Jeremy Horner, Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) will meet Feb. 2
4 in Room B206 to discuss solutions to discrimination towards LGBT students at CHS.
“In the club we really try and focus on the positives of being a LGBT student,” Horner said. “I think many people get stuck in the idea of gay rights that we forget to think about the students, who are struggling a lot at this school.”
Club member and sophomore Maya Birhiray said she agrees with Horner and said it is important for people to understand the level of discrimination LGBT students face on a daily basis.
“I’m friends with numerous gay students, and that’s part of the reason I joined this club in my freshman year. However my friendships with them have made me realize all the hardships they have to face and I really hope I can make a difference in solving some of their problems,” Birhiray said.
