The Ambassadors will open up the Parent Open House at 6:30 tonight in the Auditorium, according to Ambassadors’ director Lamonte Kuskye. Kuskye also said they will perform a set that they learned at Boot Camp.
“(We will sing) ‘Spark of Creation,’ ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat,’” Kuskye said.
According to Kuskye, the Open House will be the first performance of the year and their first full concert will be the Fall Concert with all the other choirs.
For senior Kelly Krauter, this is her second year being an Ambassador and she said that things are picking up right off the start. She said they have already started morning rehearsals on Thursdays and Fridays and another rehearsal from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
“It’s not really hard; it can be demanding at times, but to be in (the Ambassadors) you just have to be disciplined,” Krauter said. “It’s a big commitment.”
Kuskye said they have had a pretty good start to the year and the new members are bringing a new dynamic to the choir.
“It’s different. It’s not better or worse. For me, it’s just different being the older ones and kind of being the leader,” Krauter said. “But the returning (members) tried really hard to welcome the new members, to make them not feel awkward. And everyone has gotten along pretty great.”

Hey Kelly Krauter! Many years ago – I was on my way to pick you up at the house to take you to a Childrens’ Theater performance at Beef & Boards. It was your birthday and after the show we were going to do lunch. I called ahead and asked: “Kelly, are you ready?” You replied: “OMI, I WAS BORN READY!!” You have accomplished so much and compiled such a repertoire over the years it makes my heart sing! And I’m so proud of your attitude, seeing yourself as a “kind of a leader”- welcoming the new and younger members coming into the “Ambassadors” program. “YOU GO GIRL!” Love-you-lots, Your OMI (Kelly’s grandmother)
