NHS members and the Carmel Education Foundation (CEF) met on Oct. 10 to discuss final preparations for the Ghost and Goblins 5k/2k on Oct. 28.
Barbara Danquist and Stephanie McDonald, co-executive directors of the CEF, addressed NHS members regarding the registration price increase of $5 for the 5k after Oct. 21 and participation from sponsors.
“The Carmel Lions Club has informed us that they will be having a pancake breakfast after the race. So when it’s like 10 a.m. and families are wondering what to do after the race, they can just pop into the Lions Club and have some breakfast,” said Danquist.
Clay Middle School will also set up a book donation table for Indianapolis public schools (IPS) at the starting line. Donations will be accepted throughout the entirety of the race.
NHS members will continue promoting the Ghost and Goblins 5k/2k to the elementary schools, middle schools and high school. This will primarily occur in the form of video announcements and coming into the school during lunches and passing out save the date cards.
Laura Burnham, NHS member and senior, has been promoting the race with the staff at Orchard Park elementary school. She said, “We are working with the people who produce the morning announcements and the kids that help write that, so there’s been announcements about the Ghost and Goblins. Then the committee and I are working on making posters and putting them up in the elementary school.”
