The varsity women’s golf team will compete in the IHSAA State Championships in Carmel on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3. According to assistant coach Dan Patane, the team aims to win.
“We have had a medalist from all five positions, so on any given day in any given tournament any of these girls could place first as an individual,” he said.
Katie Kuc, senior and member of the varsity women’s golf team, said she agreed that the team has the potential to win state.
“We are really looking forward to state this year and definitely have a chance at winning, so we are excited,” she said.
The varsity women’s golf team has won all but two of their meets so far this season. Their main competitors at state will be Westfield, Center Grove, and Noblesville, all ranked in the top ten. According to Kuc, winning state is the team’s main goal.
“I want the team to win state and a personal goal I have is to try and win individually and get all-state,” she said.
Patane said he agreed.
“Top-to-bottom I truly believe these ladies are the best golf team in Indiana. As such, our goals for them would be the same goals they would gave for this team: a state championship. They will continue to work hard in practice and in our remaining competitions to get themselves ready to make that run to Prairie View the first weekend in October,” he said.
