School Resource Officer (SRO) Hunter Rogowski said this school’s SROs are continuing their work with PSAs and helping teachers with school-mandated lessons.
“We are meeting today with our Student Safety Committee to work on PSAs for the school,” Rogowski said. “A few of us have been in classrooms, teaching in Criminal Justice classrooms.”
On the subject of Criminal Justice, Rogowski said he and his fellow SROs come into the classroom several times a year to teach important topics.
“Yesterday, [we taught] campus safety for all the students going to college, (including) the resources different colleges have and what [students] can do to keep themselves late, especially late at night,” he said.
Sophomore Lauren Blumberg, who completed the Criminal Justice course during her freshman year, said this school’s SROs also provided valuable insights into what careers she and her peers could pursue.
“The SROs talked about their experiences in both police work and other criminal justice related fields,” Blumberg said. “The information they shared was valuable because it gave us a perspective on police operations and the role they play in our school. It also was able to show us how a job works that many of us (could pursue) one day.”
