Quiz Bowl competed in the Achaean Tournament at Herron High School on Dec. 7, the club’s final tournament of the season. During their last meeting of the semester on Dec. 9, Quiz Bowl members participated in rounds of end-of-year practice questions.
“It’s sort of a tradition (at the end of the semester) where [the officers] write a fun packet with references to things that we do, things about the school, just random trivia and fun things,” said Anjali Prasad, club officer and junior.
According to club sponsor Matthew Cinkoske, Quiz Bowl’s first tournament of 2025 will be the Purdue Buzzathon in January. Members have already begun preparing for the competition, as well as others soon to follow.
“[It’s] probably the largest tournament in Indiana, and we’ll have our area tournament soon,” Cinkoske said. “Assuming we get first or second place, we’ll have state in late February or early March.”
Additionally, Cinkoske said since the beginning of the semester, Quiz Bowl has faced a great amount of improvement as a group.
“We had a number of freshmen that joined up, and I was just seeing an increase in confidence, in their knowing of when to buzz in, and being better at working in a team with others,” Cinkoske said.
