Vocal auditions for students’ choir placement next year will begin on Feb. 2 with the freshman choirs, according to choir director Diana Gillespie. Auditions will take place during classes and will last from Feb. 2 to March 3.
Andrew Kathan, Blue and Gold Company member and sophomore, said he will be practicing a lot for his audition.
“I have a voice lesson every week but I practice on my own probably every other day,” Kathan said. “I’m working on my higher range.”OK
Students are required to dress up and bring either sheet music or accompaniment for the audition. Students can perform any song that well demonstates their vocal abilities.
“We ask them to take this as seriously as they would a job interview,” Gillespie said.
Kathan said students should be prepared for the auditions.
“Know your accompaniment well, know your song well and be confident,” Kathan said.
