Yanying Chen, Astronomy Club president and sophomore, said the next planetarium show will take place on Feb. 24. She said the next club meeting will most likely take place sometime in February, but it has not been scheduled yet.
Chen said the show will be about “exoplanets,” or planets outside of the solar system.
According to sponsor Keith Turner, the next Astronomy Club events will take place indoors, and the club will have a guest speaker.
“The speaker seems to have worked with the astronauts during the Apollo missions,” Chen said. Chen also said sometime in mid-April, speakers from planetariums from nearby states will give presentations and lectures during an all-day event at the school.
Turner said the club might also obtain a space shuttle tire in the near future.
“We’re approved for one,” Chen said, “but we are still in the middle of the paperwork.” Chen said when the club does get the tire, members will display it in the media center.
