Happy Halloween!

He does have a long tail; it’s just moving too fast to see.

Well it’s been too long since I’ve updated this, but sorry I’ve had actual things to do. A quick recap: a fantastic fall break full of dancing, sleeping and reorganizing my whole closet, a boring week of school, a fun Halloween weekend dressed as first part of the rainbow and then an Indian and finally. Yeah, I know it’s politically correct to say, “Native American,” but let’s be honest- if there’s a politically correct holiday, it’s not Halloween. Plus, no one says, “Cowboys and Native Americans.” As for Sonya Tayeh’s master class, it was amazing as expected but more on that in another post, so stay tuned. Today’s theme is pretty obvious: Halloween!

I love Halloween, mostly because I love dressing up in costumes and getting free candy. Or really just eating candy. This year, Halloween started for me last Friday at ballet rehearsal. We always dress up before Halloween; last year we were ninjas, and this year we were the rainbow, complete with our own human pot of gold.

Then Saturday was the Trick or Treat for Riley at school, which was so fun! Not only was it great to spend time with adorable kids showing them how to shoot the toy bow and arrow, but we raised over $1,000 for Riley Children’s Hospital. So thanks to everyone who came or told kids to come. The only bad part was I accidentally hit one of the cowboys in the face with an arrow; I guess it was just my Indian instincts at work. Sorry, Nicky!

I didn’t dress up today at school, but I did have my Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin shirt on with jack-o-lantern earrings. And of course, Halloween nails.Even my dog dressed up! We bought him a sheriff costume, and although he doesn’t like the hat very much, he wears it long enough for a few pictures. Then, after like two trick-or-treaters came to our house, I went to dance dressed as a princess. And if you’re wondering, of course I wore a tiara. There were only eight of us in class, but it was so super fun because most of us were dressed up and we danced to Halloween music like “Thriller” and “The Monster Mash.”

Well, it seems I’ve run out of things to say about Halloween. It’s a pretty weird holiday, but it’s also one of the most fun. Ooh! And on a random note, be sure to check out Victor Xu’s blog, an inside scoop on how the HiLite works from our very own editor in chief. This way, if I get too busy to write you’ll have something to read in between posts. But don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll have tons of time to write in November and December because there’s pretty much nothing going on my life.  Except for everything.

Until next time,

Olivia
