According to Sameer Manchanda, club officer and junior, Chess Club will attend a field trip soon. The details of the event have not yet been finalized. Club T-shirts are also now on sale.
Manchanda said the field trip will be something chess relat
ed and most likely after school on a Monday. According to club officer Matthew McDonald, the officers are still deciding where to go. “It’ll be fun to kind of get out of the school and play chess in a different setting,” McDonald said. Club sponsor Margaret Winans said students seeking additional information should consult the club officers or the club Facebook page
.
The Chess Club T-shirt design contest was canceled, McDonald said, as there were not enough submissions to determine a winner. But, the club has selected a T-shirt design and will be selling club T-shirts. “They look pretty awesome,” McDonald said.
Manchanda said students and club members can order T-shirts at any time from now until the end of the semester. Students can sign up to purchase T-shirts from Winans or any of the club officers. The club T-shirts cost $15 each. Five dollars of every purchase will be donated to CHS’s Living Hope Club. “It’s a really good cause, so we decided to team up,” Manchanda said.
Daniel Spradley, club member and junior, said he plans on attending the club field trip. “It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Spradley said.
