Jewish Student Union (JSU) plans to hold a Purim celebration, although the date is still undecided. They will have a big party in which everyone one wears costumes and eats in a big feast. Brett Gerstein, president of JSU and senior, expects 10 to 12 people to show up.
JSU has received permission to use the kitchen in the main cafeteria the day of the event.
“My favorite food is a type of cookie that is filled with jelly,” Gerstein said.
“We are busier this time of year than we are first semester,” sponsor Shelly Rubinstein said. “There are more Jewish holidays in second semester, hence the busier schedule.” JSU also has plans to invite Marva, a member of Indianapolis’s JSU, to Carmel JSU’s first meeting this semester.
“She will be coming on Tuesday to teach us things that we want to learn about,” Gerstein said. “I want to learn about conversational Hebrew.”
