On Feb. 20, the men’s swimming team will be competing in the Sectional at Noblesville. The tournament will begin at 5:30 p.m.
According to Head Coach Chris Plumb, there will be eleven teams competing at Noblesville. “Our main focus it to qualify as many kids for the State meet which is next week,” Plumb said.
Last year, 20 of the 27 swimmers that swam in the Sectional qualified for the State meet. Plumb said, “We should get in right around that number, somewhere around 19 to 21. We’ll see what happens.”
According to swimmer and senior Ben Burdick, the swimmers have been slowing down their training, what they call “tapering”. “We slow down the intensity to get our bodies ready for the championship meet,” he said.
Burdick said that he feels ready for the tournament. He said, “I swam in Sectionals last year. I moved on the State. I’ve only gotten better since last year, so I think my chances of making to State are pretty strong.”
