Mock Trial’s final competition, an all-day tournament consisting of quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds, has been postponed due to the snow in the area, blocking off the Hamilton County Judiciary Center in Noblesville. Originally scheduled for Feb. 21, the 4 inches of snowfall Hamilton county received caused the event to be postponed. According to club sponsor Holly Hochstedler, the tournament is now scheduled for Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.
The team’s year of two- to three-hour practices and the cases he participated in makes team member Andrew Ardizone confident that “(Club members) are all prepared for anything.”
According to Ardizone, two lawyers, Rodney Sarkovics and Kevin Klausing from Campbell Kyle Proffitt Limited Liability Partnership, also work with the team. The lawyers help club members with what they need and see how the cases work and flow.
Team member and freshman Grace Hamilton said, “We practice and go over questions.” They also review their arguments and work on confidence in the courtroom, especially for the three freshmen on the team.
According to both Hamilton and Ardizone, the cases have been going well, and the freshmen on the team are gaining the experience they need for the next few years.
