Model U.N. group members will continue to prepare for the IUPUI conference, scheduled to take place on March 19, according to sponsor Sandy Gardner. Members planning on attending should have already turned in their forms. Gardner said although not required, meeting attendance is strongly required for IUPUI conference participants. The date of the next meeting has not been decided yet.
According to the Model U.N. IUPUI website, CHS, which is estimated to be the largest group present at the conference, has members in 12 delegations that represent different countries including the US, Pakistan, Greece, Mali, and Colombia.
Sarah Tinaphong, Model U.N. delegate and junior said the upcoming conference is the only one she will be attending this year. Tinaphong said that she is currently researching global topics relating to her committee, the World Health Organization, in order to prepare for the conference.
She said, “ I think one of my favorite things just learning about the topics. It’s also a great opportunity to practice public speaking. I think it just gives you a new perspective, a bigger picture of the world.”
