The PTO Open House, a yearly event that allows parents to familiarize themselves with their child’s schedule and teachers, will take place on Aug. 27. According to PTO president, Cathy Bartling, the event is very important in establishing a connection between both the teachers and the parents.
“Parents will have an opportunity to hear firsthand the teachers’ expectations for the students, learn about policies and procedures of the various classes, and experience their child’s schedule first hand. This meeting can open lines of communication and ease future encounters. It’s a long night and there’s a lot of walking, but open house may be the only time a parent comes inside the building all year,” Bartling said via-email.
World language teacher Gabriela Mendoza is taking steps to help her plan for the open house that will take place tomorrow evening.
“I’m getting my technology information ready, such as things for Edmodo,” Mendoza said. “I want to give parents the opportunity to join in some of the online resources that I provide for my students. I am looking forward to meeting the parents of my students and I think that helps to make a connection with the students. I’m really excited.”
