JV Women’s Track

This school’s JV women’s track team has just completed a successful season. “We just finished up our season and a lot of those kids get their season best,” Head Coach Tim Mylin said. “They have been working extremely hard.”

“I feel like the team has really improved since our first meet up until our last,”  Olivia “Gracie” Maurer, track runner and sophomore, said. “Throughout the season many of us got our personal best times.”According to Mylin, the team is going to stay in shape in various ways. “A lot of these kids do other sports like soccer and particularly distance runners have cross-country in the off-season to stay in shape for track,” Mylin said. “Some of our sprinters that don’t do other sports have a conditioning program that Mr. Shoup runs, he’s our sprint coach, and it gives them an opportunity to get involved with that.”

Mylin said the sprint group works out two to three times a week, and it varies in the summer. “The times are kind of dependent on the kids’ work schedules and so forth,” Mylin said. “Once school starts up again in the fall, it’s usually right after school two to three times a week.”

“This was my first year doing track and it was a great opportunity to meet new people and try something different,” Maurer said. “During the summer I’m going to train more to improve my endurance.”
