Design for CHS will initiate “Operation K9,” a project that is geared towards pairing dogs with military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to senior Vikas Maturi, co-president of Design for CHS, the objective of this project is to mainly help the war veterans with PTSD. According to club sponsor Jan Mitchener, Design for CHS is continuing its strive towards helping the community through its projects.
“Design for CHS is definitely headed in the right direction in terms of discipline and commitment, both in standards and for the community,” Mitchener said. “These kids really do try to make our community a better environment and more importantly, a better place to live in.”
“Operation K9” will take place around 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 24, in Carmel. The specific location is yet to be announced. Design for CHS will work with an organization that pairs dogs with military veterans who are suffering from PTSD. Together, they will produce and deliver care packages for both the dogs and war veterans to increase their overall well-being.
