Members of Kids’ Corner have prepared activities for the fall with this week’s theme of Fall and Halloween. According to Sydney Peterson, student teacher for Kids’ Corner and senior, the preschoolers will work on an arts and craft activity as well as a dramatic exercise. Kim Lenzo, director of Kids’ Corner, said Kids’ Corner will also go trick-or-treating on Oct. 30.
For the arts and craft activity, Peterson, who planned the activities for this week, said the preschoolers will decorate pumpkin paper cutouts for pumpkin decoupages.
“So we have like these little pumpkin cutouts on paper, and then we’re going to cover it with tissue paper squares and make like a little collage,” Peterson said.
According to Peterson, the preschoolers will also improve fine motor skills through a dramatic exercise.
She said, “I’m going to give (the preschoolers) apples, and they’re going to pretend to trade amongst themselves.”
In addition to working on an arts and craft activity and dramatic exercise, Kids’ Corner will go trick-or-treating.
Lenzo said the preschoolers and student teachers will first go to the media center where they will read a story, play a Halloween-themed game and eat Halloween-themed snacks. The activities at the media center are based on the theme of the Peanuts cartoons. According to Lenzo, media manager Jennifer O’Connor coordinated the activities. After visiting the media center, the preschoolers will trick-or-treat at Student Services, the health center and counseling.
Peterson said, “I’m excited to see all the kids dressed up in their little costumes and going trick-or-treating.”
