With the CHS Dance Marathon coming up on Feb. 27, dancers will need lots of energy in order to prep for the six-hour event. The event will have refreshments, but here’s a recipe to make the night before. Ingredients like oatmeal and chia seeds provide energy while peanut butter provides protein, making these energy bites a recipe for success.
Ingredients:
1 cup of dry oats,
not instant oatmeal
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1/4 cup of peanut butter
1/4 cup of hazelnut chocolate spread
1/3 cup of honey
1/3 cup of unsweetened coconut
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
Directions:
Measure out the ingredients. Place peanut butter and hazelnut chocolate spread in a separate bowl.
Microwave the spreads for 30 seconds to soften them. Do not microwave them for over a minute because the spreads will melt the chocolate.
Stir all the ingredients together in a medium bowl. Make sure the liquid ingredients are fully distributed.
Cover the bowl with Saran wrap.
Chill the mix in the fridge for at least half an hour.
Once chilled, scoop the mix into tablespoons and roll them into balls. We got 20 balls from the mix.
Store the energy bites in an airtight container. They will last in the refrigerator for a week.
