French Club plans to go to the opera “Carmen” at the IU Jacobs School of Music on March 5. Members interested in attending will eat dinner at a French restaurant before the event.
According to French Club co-sponsor Lisa Carroll, AP and IB French students read a French opera annually and this year they read the script of “Carmen.” This project will culminate with the field trip and allow them to experience the opera live.
The club plans to leave by bus at 2 p.m. from CHS and eat dinner downtown before the opera opens at 7:30 p.m. Students who are interested can get permission slips from any French teacher.
Cindy Lee, French Club secretary and junior, said via email, “Hopefully this (field trip) will expose the club members and students more to French culture and practice listening to French.”
