The play Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp will premiere February 7-9, each starting at 7 p.m. in the Dale E. Graham auditorium at CHS. The play is directed by James Peterson, a theater instructor at CHS, and who is taking over the role from Maggie Cassidy, the director of the fall play.
The group began rehearsing in December for this play and they put in 10 hours per week of practice, according to Peterson. He said, “There is quite a lot of work that goes into each production, and this one is quite demanding”. The group needs to put in a lot of teamwork to get the lighting, the sound, and the special effects right on cue and need to be able to synchronize in order to perform at the best way possible. Peterson also said that there is some anxiety in the crew since they missed a few days from school cancellation.
Allie Crawford, a member of the play, says that she is excited for the upcoming performance but is also nervous about whether or not the missed days will affect their show. She enjoys the hard work that is put into Aladdin and appreciates Peterson’s directing.
