The Best Buddies club plans to attend Mr. Carmel, an event put on by CHS Champions Together on March 8 to support Best Buddies peers involved in the event as well as CHS Champions Together.
Anne Schuh, Best Buddies president and senior, said Best Buddies usually attends the event every year to support Champions Together, as both clubs spread the same message of inclusion for all students, regardless of disabilities.
“(Mr. Carmel) is put on by Champions Together, but it promotes the ‘End the R-Word’ message,” Schuh said. “Also, a lot of our friends are in it so we go to support them and attend that event.”
In addition, the club will continue their efforts in fundraising for the annual Friendship Walk in April.
Best Buddies sponsor Christine Ellis said, “The money goes towards chartering new chapters (and) giving people with disabilities more work opportunities.”
Ellis said in order to keep working towards their goal of $10,000 by the end of April, the club plans to host several fundraisers in the upcoming few months.
