The softball team and its coaches line up before the start of the game against North Central. They went on to defeat North Central 12-1.
The team will be playing its second match at the Jasper Invitational on April 12 after the April 10 match against Noblesville was canceled due to weather.
Although the team did not practice together over the spring break and has had only one outdoor practice this season, Head Coach Emily Good said she looks forward to the Jasper Invitational.
“The weather has definitely limited our time outside, which has put us a little behind where we would normally be at this point. However, the positive is knowing that most of the other teams in the state are dealing with the same concern,” Good said. “We look forward to the Jasper invitational because it gives us the opportunity to become more cohesive and provides a greater sense of where we are as a team.”
Lauren Godden, softball player and junior, said while the girls are having trouble working as a team, she is optimistic about the Invitational. She said, “We just aren’t confident as a team yet because we haven’t had time to gel as a team yet but we’re getting there. And I think we’re going to do well at Jasper.”
