Kids Against Hunger to attend packaging event March 19

Kids Against Hunger Club is scheduled to attend a food packaging event at the American Red Cross building in Noblesville on March 19. According to Chris Law, club president and senior, the packaging events are something all can enjoy.

“My personal favorite parts of the packaging events are participating in packaging the food at the tables, where there are various jobs to be done,” Law said. “My favorite job at the tables is probably filling the bags with the ingredients, which is one of the first steps.”

The bags contain a mixture of rice, soy, chicken flavoring, and dried vegetables with enough servings to feed a family of six. The food is sent to people around the world and even those in our own state, accor

ding to club sponsor Maggie Cassidy.

“The food is distributed to Gleaners and Midwest Food Bank as well as globally to orphanages in Haiti and Africa. I think every small step we can take to end hunger can help to put a small dent in our problem,” Cassidy said.

The club had been initially planning a packaging event at CHS but the venue has been changed to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds for April 16. According to Law, the group has very high hopes for the event.

“My biggest goal is that we can package more meals than we ever had, as to make a huge impact,” Law said. “It’s going to be Global Youth Service Day, too, so it’s the perfect day to give back to our neighbors near and far.” By Kelly Clark
