The Foreign Exchange Student Program has six students in its program this year. The majority of students are from Germany. The students in the program meet monthly during SRT to make sure everyone is doing well.
“This program allows students from other countries to experience American life and get involved in various activities Carmel has to offer,” sponsor David Mikesell said.
These students participate in many activities here. Some attend football games, play sports, and are going to the homecoming dance this Saturday.
Charles Sinclair, a science teacher, is housing a foreign exchange student for the first time this year. Her name is Mareike Schuett and she is from Germany.
“The experience has been a great one, we are very happy with how things have gone and she has adjusted perfectly,” Dr. Sinclair said. “She came one week before school started, and will stay until June.”
