According to club co-president Clay Morrisson, Fantasy Sports Club members are participating in week 10 of the fantasy football season, and there are currently 16 teams in the league.
“As president, I can really get to know how the system (for fantasy football) works, and provide the members with a hands-on activity,” Morrisson said via-email.
Each week, members set their roster for that weekend of games. Two fantasy teams are set up against each other and whoever scores the most points wins. A team scores points based on how well each player plays in his actual games.
“It’s fun to see if your strategy works against the team that you are playing,” club sponsor Mike Meyer said.
Later in the year, Fantasy Sports Club members usually play fantasy baseball, and sometimes plays fantasy basketball. They always hold a school-wide competition during the NCAA Tournament. If the NBA lockout ends, club members will also play fantasy basketball.
“I like being in the club because of the competition. We try to encourage a type of environment that says we are friends but you’re going down,” Morrisson said.
