LifeLines is scheduled to meet the morning of Nov. 23 to finalize plans and delegate tasks for Pre-Winter Break Awareness Week, which will take place the week of Dec. 5. According to LifeLines sponsor Rebekah Overbey, the event will promote making good decisions over winter break.
At the last meeting, Overbey said LifeLines members discussed club photos and the upcoming seat belt checks as part of Buckle Down’s Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) campaign.
“Seatbelt checks are coming very soon,” Overbey said. “LifeLines kids will be at entrances where students will park their cars, and they’ll try to identify if students are or are not wearing seat belts. We’ll find the percentages, and this will be the first of four times this year.”
According to Christopher Song, LifeLines vice president and junior, the seat belt checks for Buckle Down are the current priority for the club.
“A large part of our mission is to educate students about driving safety,” Song said. “Buckle Down is a great program that rewards safe drivers.”
