According to Richard Phan, Hip Hop Club officer and senior, Hip Hop Club continues to prepare for Carmel’s Best Dance Crew (CBDC), a group-oriented dance competition similar in layout to that of “America’s Best Dance Crew.” Hip Hop Club meets every Tuesday after school until 5 p.m. in the main lobby near the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.
“We currently have three Hip Hop Club crews total that are participating, which is a considerable amount considering the fact that many crews participate as it is,” Phan said. “As of right now, many crews are freaking out. They are all hungry for victory this year, especially the underclassmen.”
During rehearsals, crews brainstorm and come up with ideas to incorporate into their routines, creating choreography and music mixes, according to Phan.
Sponsor Lacey Grabek said she admires all the hard work the members are putting into CBDC.
“I love sitting around watching students turn into teachers and become leaders of their group,” Grabek said. “Everyone is eager to learn and contribute to make their crew the best.”
Phan said, “This is an event where dancers of the club can showcase what they’ve got and learned while dancing. We are all hastily preparing, beginners and veterans alike.”
