On Thursday, April 19, the Gay-Straight Alliance will have a meeting to plan for National Day of Silence, an annual event that takes place on April 20 and protests the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students and their supporters.
“(The members) are going to pass out the materials for Day of Silence,” said club sponsor Jeremy Horner. “There will be a conversation about how to manage that day. What’s appropriate or not appropriate to do.”
There will also be several guest speakers at the meeting.
According to president and senior Reid Libby, “We are having a couple of kids speak about coming out and what Day of Silence means to them.”
Additionally, the group will continue to plan for their upcoming booth at Houndstock. This year they intend to sell baked goods and tie-dyed articles of clothing.
“We always do very well selling tie-dye,” said Libby. “Last year we sold out.”
