Media staff members will commence their annual ice cream cone event, which will begin on Sept. 24 and last the whole week, according to media department chairperson Bonnie Grimble. Students can search for clues to the hidden ice cream cones in the various areas of the media center.
“If you find a cone, you win a prize,” Grimble said. “We do this activity every year because we want to encourage kids to become familiar with the parts of the library because we do have a bit of a strange layout in the media center.”
The cones can be found in every period except SRT every day during the week of Sept. 24, according to Grimble.
The media staff will also host a new display about author Kurt Vonnegut and his works for the next two weeks, according to Grimble. Grimble said she found an opportunity to host the display at the media center after seeing an advertisement.
“It was advertised, so I thought, ‘Why not’ and gave them a call,” Grimble said. “The display is a traveling display, so the media staff took the opportunity and decided to host it here.”
Junior William Baach said he noticed the promotional display and is looking forward to seeing the official new display.
“I’m currently reading Slaughterhouse-Five, and it’s a really interesting book,” Baach said. “Slaughterhouse-Five is good but kind of weird at the same time. Vonnegut’s style of writing is pretty interesting, very descriptive. I’m definitely going to check out the display.”
Grimble said she is also looking forward to the display, since she has not yet seen the official display.
“The media staff members are very excited, looking forward to the display,” Grimble said.
