Aperture Club is scheduled to have its first meeting of second semester on Jan. 17. The meeting will be held in room C147. President and senior Sam Patterson said via email, members should be reminded that the IMA My Snapshot Contest is now closed and the World Press Photo Contest closes on the day of the meeting.
Patterson said he also plans to inform club members about additional photography contests during the meeting.
“The biggest upcoming dates for the club aren’t just for the club, but for photographers at large. There are a few upcoming contests I’d like to share with members at the next meeting, notably the Indiana State Department of Agriculture one and the state fair one. Both are semi-far off, but worth thinking about now as a lot of creative “Indiana” themed shots are taken in Spring,” Patterson said.
Patterson said the “Thanksgiving” and “Christmas” themed contests are extended into a “Winter Wonderland” theme to encompass those whose “Wonderlands” are tropical vacations. These submissions are due the day of the meeting.
Sponsor Jim Streisel said, “The last meeting went very well. There was that handful of students there, but they are very engaged. They are certainly an active group. Those who participate are really those who want to get better and Sam does a really good job of leading them through it.”
