LifeLines officers Sydney Varma and Rebecca White discuss upcoming events like Red Ribbon Week at the morning meeting. White said there will be a door-decorating contest and ribbon tying on cars to spread awareness about drugs.
LifeLines plans to meet on Oct. 2 at 7:05 a.m. in the Community Room. Meetings will be every blue Wednesday.
According to president and junior Rebecca White, the officers will talk about Red Ribbon Week at the next meeting. “We’ll probably just discuss Red Ribbon Week and what we do, and then start planning for work sessions after school,” she said.
Red Ribbon Week is the club’s next big event, and it will take place from Oct. 23 to Oct. 31.
“(For Red Ribbon Week), we tie red ribbons on cars, we decorate doors and we have a door-decorating contest. We judge them and whoever has the best door gets a pizza party,” White said. “Then we make posters and we just kind of spread awareness of Red Ribbon Week.”
Sponsor Rebekah Overbey said she hopes this event will promote good decision making and wants the members to be passionate about making a difference.
“I always want (Red Ribbon Week) to be fun, but something that’s educational and makes students stop and think about the choices they make,” she said. “It’s really about saving their lives and trying to encourage them to make the choices that would save their lives but also possibly the lives of others.”
