Dine on a Dime, an event that teaches teenagers how to make foods that they would usually buy at restaurants at home, is on Oct. 30 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the program room of the Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL).
Students will have an opportunity to save money by learning how to make their own owl cupcakes instead of buying them ready-made in a store or restaurant. This event was created in response to a grant from an organization called the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Students can learn more about the event on the CCPL website.
According to Jamie Beckman, young adult librarian at the CCPL, students should attend Dine on a Dime.
“You’ll learn how to make cute owl cupcakes for less,” Beckman said.
According to Teen Library Council (TLC) president and senior Divya Sarda, Dine on a Dime will be a very valuable experience.
“(Dine on a Dime is) basically there for teens to enjoy and have fun. (It) also (can) help you save money for later in life,” Sarda said.
