According to AVID site coordinator Shannon Woodson, juniors and seniors in AVID will have the opportunity to attend a college fair from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Feb. 3, then stay to watch the Indiana Pacers play against the Orlando Magic.
Woodson said the students would have to purchase their dinners at the Circle Centre Mall before they return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the game.
“There will be a speaker from AVID who’s from the national program, and then the other speakers will be from the Pacers organization that will be talking about how (AVID students’) educational background can be used to gain a career in the sports industry,” Woodson said.
She also added that the other AVID students will have the opportunity to purchase their own tickets if they also wish to watch the game.
AVID junior Nick Maier said he was looking forward to the event in February.
“I am very excited to go with my fellow classmates to learn about colleges and watch the Pacers play,” Maier said. “They’re having a really good run this season, and I’m looking for forward for (the Pacers) to make a run for the NBA championships.”
