As the women’s varsity soccer season comes to an end, the team still has several rival opponents to play. On Sept. 24 the soccer team will travel to Westfield to play at 7:00 p.m. Last year Carmel defeated Westfield 4-0.
“The team has been playing really well and we continue to improve,” Nicole Heffern, varsity soccer player and junior, said. Heffern plays central midfielder and outside forward. The team practices everyday after school at Murray Stadium for approximately two hours.
So far this season the soccer team has won 12 games, loss one game and tied one game. The team will play one more game in its season against Center Grove before the players begin competing for the IHSAA Sectional title. Carmel will be defending their 2011 State championship title. “The girls have been working really hard this year, and hopefully we’ll be able to win another State title,” Head Coach Frank Dixon said.
