The Carmel softball team prepares to compete in the first round of the sectional tournament at home on May 26. According to captain and senior Lauren Godden the team has been preparing all year for this. The girls have been conditioning all year and have been in season since April. She said, as a team they have worked on playing as one and staying focused on the task at hand. Godden feels the team is more than prepared for the sectional tournament.
“It’s all about the journey and the process of getting where we want to be in the end, which is making a run for the state title,” she said.
Along with Godden, head coach Emily Good feels the team is more than prepared for the tournament. She said the team has been working hard and have done some impressive things throughout the season. During the season Good made sure the girls worked as one and to kept pursuing their ultimate goal, to win state.
Good said, “Our players are more trusting of the system and with one another. We have more experience playing together. Teams within our sectional always create a rivalry for us, but the team is more than prepared for sectionals.”
