According to choir teacher John Burlace, the Ambassadors will be singing the national anthem at several sporting events.
“We’ve gotten requests for the national anthem to be sung,” he said. “In addition to covering those, we’re doing soccer and the homecoming football game as an entire choir. So as people request singers for those events, we fill it in with kids who are willing.”
In past weeks, Burlace said the Ambassadors recently finished their first large fundraising event. “We just did our car wash,” he said. “It went really well – they raised quite a lot of money. It was a rainy day, but people still showed up and the kids had a great time.”
“It’s a lot of fun,” senior and Ambassador Kristin Barnes said. “It’s kind of the first thing that we get to do as a group aside from working. It’s our main fundraiser for the year and we have a lot of fun fundraising and washing the cars and listening to music and washing everything else that comes through the line that aren’t cars. We beat every record for fundraising that we’ve ever had for washing cars with this fundraiser.”
According to Burlace, the Ambassadors and the other choirs are also preparing for their first concert. “Things are just now starting to get busy,” he said.
